Ad hoc Response
This is the dangerous "Any response is
better then no response" management. It is, however sometimes
required when there is absolutely no budget for incident response
teams, or you just cant get management to see the value in
having response abiltiy (pun intended). This team is made
up of various IT support staff on hand. Usually this kind
of support ends up supplemented by a call to a Commercial
Incident Response team when things go really bad.
The disadvantages in comparison to any of the
other incident responses are many. The biggest are no resources
and no managerial support.
The only advantage is again "Better then
nothing". At least the Ad hoc team can put together a
list of resources, including Commercial response like Legacy
Technical Group, Inc. when things do go bad.
